World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft (WoW) is an MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) that has over 10 million
players world wide. The game has a monthly fee of about 15 dollars. There is a free trial available. You can play
free until your character reaches the level 20.
You can choose to play as one of the Alliance races which are Humans, Dwarves, Night Elves and Gnomes. If you
choose to play as the Horde you can play as a Tauren, Orc, Forsaken or a Troll. In addition to the above there are
a few other Alliance and Horde races that are available, if you buy one of the expansion discs.
After selecting your side you create your unique avatar (character). Your race determines the types of skills
your character can develop. You level up by completing tasks and quests mostly by fighting and killing.

Runescape is a browser based MMORPG. The game can be played in English, German, French or in Portuguese.
Runescape is mainly aimed at people over 13 years old.
The main theme is to chat with your friends and develop your human character, the avatar. The more you delve
into combats and other activities, the more you gain experience points and level up.
You can complete quests on your own or with other players. Sometimes it's good to have friends when going to
fight bigger monsters. There are also special areas for player vs. player combats, if you challenge other players
In order to overcome big opponents on your own you not only need to have a good set of skills, but you need
powerful weapons, too. Weapons and other items can be bought with gold coins. Coins are earned whenever you sell
something such as fish that you have lured.
You control your character with mouse and arrow keys. Moving is done by running, but advanced characters
can also teleport themselves to another location.
If you buy a membership, you get additional features such as extra missions, items and mini games to play.
